Nottinghamshire in HIGH COVID alert level

Today has marked the first day of Nottinghamshire being in the new HIGH COVID alert level which was announced by the Government on Monday. We know that these changes will affect everyone’s daily life and we want to help you understand the new restrictions. If we all stick to the new guidance we can work together to improve the situation. Further information on what the rules are for Notts folk can be found here.

FAQs from local residents

With Nottinghamshire on 'HIGH' Alert, many of our residents have asked some important questions about what they can and cannot do. We've out together our most popular frequently asked questions and answers.

Can I still play sport indoors?

Organised sport and licenced physical activity are still allowed OUTDOORS. Indoor organised sports MUST follow social contact rules (other than youth and disabled sports)

My job involves going into people's homes. Can I still work?

Work from home where possible. If you’re a tradesperson, you CAN go into a household without breaching the limit, if you are there for work.

I don't live with my partner, can I still go to their house?

If you and your partner don't live together, you can form a support bubble, provided one of you lives alone. If you don't meet the criteria to form a bubble, you cannot meet indoors.

What is a 'bubble' and can I create one?

This is where an adult who lives alone joins with another household (of any size) to effectively become one household. To form a bubble, you or the person you're forming one with MUST live alone.

Travel news

The new rules mean that you cannot mix with other households in any inside setting anywhere, unless you are in a support bubble with them. You should follow the rule of six whilst outdoors.

You can still travel within high alert level areas to hotels and other guest accommodation, but you should only do this with people in your household or support bubble. You can still go on holiday outside of high alert level areas, but you must only do this with people in your household or support bubble. So, when leaving the county for social reasons please only do so with members of your own household and do not mix inside with other people outside of your household whilst you are away.

When travelling you should respect the rules in the rest of the country and you should avoid travelling to any part of the country subject to very HIGH COVID alert levels. From Friday people from Nottinghamshire and across England will be banned from travelling to Wales as part of their efforts to prevent the spread of the infection.

It is difficult to socially distance during car journeys. You should avoid sharing a car with someone from outside your household or your support bubble unless you can practise social distancing.
